The unionizing process begins with your disenchanted employees and/or a union representative having serious discussions with your employees to get them interested in unionizing, It progresses step by step, up to and including an election.

he first step is getting employees to decide they want to organize. Unions would like to feel confident that at least half of the workers would be inclined to join their union. Their ultimate goal is to secure a majority of the employees of a particular employer to favor the union. To accomplish their objective they will usually do whatever is necessary include telling lies about what they can do for the employees.

One of their initial tactics is to make employees feel secure that they won’t be fired if they sign an Authorization Card. They will also normally provide your employees a pamphlet that contains, among other things, the union’s twisted way of explaining the employee’s rights under the law. Once they gain a foothold, unions begin to get very serious about signing up your employees. Dependant the percentage of your employees that signed cards, they may ask the NLRB to represent the employees without  a election or petition the NLRB for an election. Your chances of winning therefore diminish in direct proportion to how long it takes you to begin your counter-offensive.
